Hang Ten! New Surfer Themed Birthday Outfit Added

I just love it when I have an adorable little model to show off a new product!  Mile's mommy purchased the swim trunks he's wearing from Gymboree, and asked me to make a surf themed shirt to match.  She was such a pleasure to work with -- she knew what she wanted, what she didn't want, and was very decisive when selecting the embellishing embroidery. 

The surf boards on the shirt are striped to  match the surf boards on the shorts, but the good news is that the stripes are made from fabric strips, and can be changed to match any color scheme.  The hat is pretty simple, a striped 1 (to match the surfboards), and name.  In my opinion, the real star of the hat is the twisted rick-rack trim on the bottom.   While I hate the process of twisting together two strands of rick-rack, I love, love, love the effect, and think it's totally worth the effort.  Last, but not least, a coordinating bib, striped to coordinate with the rest of the outfit, and personalized with baby's name. 

Enough of my babbling take a look at the finished product - okay, who am I kidding -- this kid is so cute I just want to nibble on his cheeks!

 

New Items Added

I added several new items this week.  Here is a quick preview:

BIRTHDAY NUMBER SHIRT:

This particular shirt was appliqued with Michael Miller's Dig It fabric.  Really though, this is intended to be a "design-your-own" item.  I can use any fabric for the applique, and any shirt color.  The possibilities are endless!

CAKE SMASH SET FOR GIRLS

 This set is made from very classic fabrics - swiss dot and gingham.  It was originally designed for a little girl who wore an heirloom smocked dress for her first birthday.  I am so very partial to pink, that I love this set as-is, but it too is intended to be a design-your-own item.  Since posting this in my shop, I've received an inquiry as to how it would look on Dandy Damask - my response, "simply gorgeous!"

Meet Brody

I love this set in the Boy Colorway,  and just as much in the Caribe colorway.  This set was the brain child of Brody's mom, and I do have to say, she's got a great eye.

It's Good to BEE Me!

I am so excited to announce my new birthday tutu outfit in a bumble bee theme.  I loved this set so  much that I kept it in my studio until the very last minute, and ended up having to ship it overnight.  Everything with this little outfit came together so well, and needless to say, I'm very proud of the outcome.  I just HOPE little Maiya's mom will share, and let me publish some birthday pictures. 

Now, I'm staring at my blank mannequin... missing the outfit that once adorned her, but excited about the next big thing that will come her way.  In the meantime, here are some pictures of the new outfit - I'm sure it will become a best seller in no time.

 

I'm thinking about offering the tshirt, bloomers and hair clip as a separate cake smash set.  Let me know what you think.

So Excited About the New Site

About a year ago, when I began actively selling on Etsy, I set up a website to showcase available fonts and fabrics.  While I liked the idea, the tool I chose was cumbersome;  soon I began spending as much time on the site as I spent in my sewing studio.  As a result, the site became neglected and unmaintained.  I stopped uploading new fabrics, I didn't remove discontinued fabrics, etc...  The whole site just became a mess. 

After months of research, my husband found a great new tool, where I can easily set-up and maintain a professional website.  Day 1, the site is still a work-in-progress, the style sheets aren't exactly what I wanted, and the new logo isn't complete, but the fabrics and fonts are loaded, and it took less time for me to do that than it has for me to write this simple blog entry!  YAY!

Speaking of blogs, I think this is  my favorite thing about this new site.  I have so many ideas for blog, I'm about to burst.  I'm like a 3 year-old on Christmas Eve!  So excited about what's to come, but like that elusive package under the tree, I'm not going to give any hints, I'm just going to say... stay posted.
